Why Use an instructor?
It is important to learn
safe driving skills from the beginning of your driving career
because bad
habits are hard to break! We have found through training many learners at
all levels it is better to start your training with an Approved Driving
Instructor. The reason for this is, most drivers like parents and
relatives have been driving for many years and the standard for passing
the driving test changes constantly. By starting your lessons with
a professional you w
ill find it easier not only to start driving, you
will find that in the end it is less stressful and easier to learn.
It is unlikely that anyone except an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) would have the experience, knowledge and training to teach you correctly. Learning safe driving habits from the start will improve the safety of yourself and other road users. You will also increase your chances of passing the driving test.
DTC believes that once you have learnt the basics, private practice will help you to prepare for the test. Your instructor will give you more guidance on this when you are ready. If you want to practise your driving with an accompanying driver, that person must be over the age of 21 and must have held a full licence for three years.
